My Poems.

Mypoems
These are some of the poems I have written over the years. Not saying any of them are great, but they are all special to me. Some family & friends are mentioned as part of a poem, though only the real names of famous people have been used in the dedications. Others are nicknames. Please forgive the length of the page, perhaps later I'll manage it with links to just the titles.

Karen's Kiss

One night the wind and I looked long,
the earth moved at my feet,
the moonlight shed had gone to bed,
but still I couldn't sleep.

And soon you came and brought the dawn,
the light fell on your face,
and I beheld a child of elves,
too fine for mortal grace.

I stood a while and breathed a sigh,
afraid to break the spell,
for this I thought the gods had wrought,
and now to earth you'd fell.

As we embraced you placed,
a gentle kiss upon my lips,
and I had felt the moon and stars,
move through my finger tips.

Now I have felt the winds of change,
while heaven soars above,
but not so high are heavens fields,
compared to Karens love~

Memories Maid

Its early morn, fluorescent dawn,
my presence torn, reflects upon,
within the dream, beyond the tide;
atop the wave of years I ride.

Her eyes were brown, my world was young,
she carried me around and sung,
her gaze I met, the skin as night;
the hair of jet, but soul so bright.

Her faith was strong, her love the most,
we hugged her long, and held her close,
she fixed us fries, and cleaned about;
and kept the local holy rollers out.

Warm like covers, light's shone through,
we had 2 mothers, that I knew,
I'd sneak in close, and spring in glee;
she'd strike that pose and say the devil was in me.

For 20 years, I knew her call,
the present tears, though they may fall,
will never dim, while looking back;
the world is not so fair without my Myrtle Mack.

BROTHERS

THROUGH THE DARK, OR THROUGH THE LIGHT,
THROUGH LIVES OF JOY OR PAIN,
THROUGH THE SHIFTING FACE OF FEAR;
IT'S YOU WHO KEEPS ME SANE.

TWO LIMBS AS CUT FROM SINGLE TREE,
TWO VEINS FROM SINGLE LEAF,
TWO LIVES AWOKE TO WALK THEIR PATH;
AND DEAL WITH LOVE AND GRIEF.

AND SINCE THE START OF KHARMIC DAWN,
YOUR MANTLE BRIGHT HAS CAST,
A LIGHT TO SHOW I'M NOT ALONE;
IN PRESENT, FUTURE, PAST.

FOR EVERY TIME WE PART IS HARD,
THE FEELING'S MOST FORLORN,
LIKE SOMETHING SOFT WAS RIPPED APART;
TWO FRIENDS IN TRANSIT TORN

I THINK ABOUT YOU ALL THE TIME,
FOR YOU AND YOURS I PRAY,
I BEG THE LADY KEEP YOU SAFE;
AND LIGHT ALONG YOUR WAY.

FROM DAWN OF TIME AS SIDE BY SIDE,
LIKE SENTINELS WE STAND,
THOUGH FLESH AND BLOOD BE FAR APART;
LIKE BROTHERS CLOSE AT HAND.

I'D GLADLY GIVE MY LIFE FOR YOURS,
IN TRUTH YOU'D DO THE SAME,
BUT LIFE COULD NEVER BE SO DEAR;
WITHOUT MY BROTHER WAYNE.

The Crimson Eye

Beneath the trees of Nandermoor, beyond the Epsling Lye,
Across the hall where shadows pour there waits the Crimson Eye,
And horrors slither cross the floor as back and forth they go;
A minuet of dancing gore a basking in his glow.

Good gentles stay you from his lair, I charge you with your life,
And keep your ladies far from where the devil takes a wife,
Think not upon your strength of arms but strength upon your heart;
The fear that grip your senses warns your blade will miss your mark.

For many felt his day was due, and fought him on his ground,
A day no more they lived to rue, their bodies never found,
And people wonder what became of loved ones left behind;
At night the evening meal's remained, and once again they dined.

They say he came from far away, from shadowed dale or dell,
But truth be known in light of day, where ere he stays is hell,
And what he wants no one can guess, or if he's here for good;
Of what I know I won't confess of things that never should

By dark of moon and witching hours, a baleful light does play,
With weirdly songs and prickly flowers, do revelers make their way,
A site no one should ever see, less surely you go mad;
Where ghosts are made and one for me, my lover's eyes gone sad.

So stay away from Nandermoor, and far from Epsling Lye,
And guard your love forever more, from dark and crimson eye,
Lest you forget of lesser fate, whose path you came across;
This debt of pain I live to hate, this loved one that I lost.

The Monster Me

It started small, my early years
too close to call, what savored fears
in sleeps embrace it ruled the night
and no one knew Dave wasn't right

But night would pass and fears behave
the sand men last appeared to wave
the room in black, the dawn in blue
though curtains close they always knew

the sight begins, we spoke to me
whilst widdershins around this tree
one path correct, if pass at all
magnetic fields that beck and call

as I grew up, it held me close
the tune abrupt, the rhyme morose
nothing's sacred from it's thirst
the darkest thoughts are always first

we dwell together, it and I
where symbiosis is a lie
with mirrors never far away
an endless cast for my life's play

I don't regret, my natures choice
though conscious pet, I'd miss the voice
compulsive will, may oft atone
but I will never be alone

Possession of Pain

The time drops in the bucket,
Like waves upon the sea,
What passes now in shadow deep
Will not return to me.

Bright sunlight called at morning,
At noon the day still fine,
By all the gods to have her back
I cannot call her mine.

By dusk my heart lay sinking,
By evening gloom was shone,
The candle light, though merry bright
Revealed I was alone.

To east I walked as song birds talked,
I dread the coming dawn,
But not so fair the nestlings air
As my loves sylvan song.

And though I lived to hear it once,
Our pain we'll rise above,
The tears I pay on every day
Were worth it Karen love

Orphan of the Arts

So cold that night, beneath the light, the houses yet to see,
and time would fly, as Mace and I, would know the power's that be,
the hair of jet, were fire met, and formed a golden glow,
the eyes entranced where knowledge danced, of things we'd yet to know.

________________________________________________
His country side, my shared abide, with leagues that lie between,
on carpet warm, till early morn, we spoke of things unseen,
of council sought were I flew naught, he went on my behalf,
and to the flame he gave my name, apprenticed to his craft.

________________________________________________
My days were filled with life instilled , of teachings I received,
and I was warned that magic formed, as long as I believed,
In forest walks, and sunlit talks, in pictures that he drew,
we played the part we loved at heart that no one ever knew.

________________________________________________
In restaurants, our favored haunts, with gossip never far,
in public scenes, we shared our dreams, they must have thought bizarre,
less A mentor's pupil, more a father to his child,
a sorcerers ways, my life a blaze, the fireworks beguile.

________________________________________________
But down the years as light appears, the fireworks they fade,
its then you learn, that truth can burn, through anything you made,
as ten years past and I at last, a teacher in his eyes,
we grew apart, as fires start, and thence began the lies.

_________________________________________________
I'd see him then, and now again, in company of friends,
and ever most, a distant host, the strangeness that it lends,
this silent spell, he wore so well, and locked the door behind,
with windows checked, and attic swept of me he'd never find.

_________________________________________________
once more the days have had their ways, 9 years to count the tell,
and where he's gone no minstrel's song, can sing, or if he's well,
but there's a part, of him at heart, that never left his home,
a legacy of learning we have yet to prove our own.

________________________________________________
As relative to what we give, as proud a song unsung,
a day there'll be, that you will see, a teacher, and a son.

(for Malachi).

MISS GEENIE

RAVEN'S HAIR, AND ANGEL FAIR, EYES OF LUCID BROWN
SIBLING YOUTH, MY DAWN OF TRUTH, AWOKE TO BEAUTY FOUND

THOSE EARLY DAYS, IN MANY WAYS, THE BEST FOR ME BY FAR,
WHEN YOU WERE CLOSE, WE TWO VERBOSE, MY WISH APON A STAR.

BUT YOU GREW FAST, AND SO AT LAST, THE OTHERS HELD YOUR GAZE,
IN SHADOW MIRE, MY THOUGHTS ASPIRE, EMOTIONS JEALOUS HAZE.

YOU NEVER KNEW, HOW CLOSE TO YOU, I STOOD BUT COULDN'T SAY,
YOUR BROTHERS HEART, FROM STOP TO START, STILL LOVES YOU MORE TODAY.

YOU MARRIED YOUNG, MY LIFE UNSUNG, MY WORLD AS GREY AS STONE,
WITHOUT YOU NEAR, THE CONSTANT FEAR, OF NEVER COMING HOME.

AS YEARS ROLLED BY, I WONDERED WHY, WITH EVERY GIRL I WENT,
THEIR CROWN SO DARK, YOUR LIKENESS SPARKED, IMAGINATION SPENT.

THOUGH I CONFESS, MY KYODAI DESS, THAT NONE DID ERE SURPASS,
STILL I ADMIT, PERFECTION QUIT, WHEN YOU MADE MO AND CASS.

WHEN LATE AT NIGHT, WITH SOMBER LIGHT, I PASS YOUR PICTURE NEAR,
I STOP AND STARE, AND SAY A PRAYER, THE ONE I HOLD MOST DEAR.

I MISS THE TIME, WE NEVER FIND, ONE TOWN APART A PLAGUE,
JUST SO YOU KNOW, WHERE EVER I GO, I LOVE MY SISTER PEG.

Full moons in Erie'o

Nestled in briars and garlands of bay,
I dream of the past and there long do I stay
I think of my friends, and the paths that we weave
of two lovers that met on a cold winters eve

Bright star of the lupis my lord of renown
met the lady of sidhe in a gossamer gown
when his lips brushed the hand that he held in his glove
she awoke to the touch of his innocent love

And the creatures of night in the greenwood did sing
of the joy that a wolf, and a faery would bring
By midnight they knew it, by fortnight betrothed
a love spell of mistletoe worm wood and clove

Their love was a current no army could ford
they sailed in the heavens where angels were moored
they slept in the stars as the universe spun
they woke in the morn and their hearts were as one

But even the hearts of young lovers can wane
so following seasons of plenty came pain
and kissing his cheek she returned to her past
In my deepest of dreams their together at last

The love now lies hidden in dells that are deep
and covered by bracken tis here will I sleep
and ne're will I venture with mortals above
the world is no place for an elf, without love.

Galadriel Born

I have met a girl tonight
That's richer than she knows
No castle alabaster white
Outshines her when she glows

And I have been entranced by this
A woman in her means
Emotions lift, my thoughts adrift
A promontory dream

But gladly do I take this path
For long I've searched in vain
By early morn your thunderstorm
Has left a cleansing rain

There's something fey about you
That sylvan folk hold dear
No faery light could hide from sight
The stars by which you steer

The eyes are quite magnetic
The laugh infectious too
Beyond the 10 it's what's within
I find inside of you

At first I felt so awkward
A snail without his shell
And falling fast I plunged at last
Into Galadriel's well

And like the queen of golden wood
The gifts that came to call
Though treasure bright, I come to like
Your friendship most of all

The Veil

Help me now the darkness nears, through curtains night I tore,
I sense the veil, and cries a wail as I push through the door.

Acceptance of the warriors way, my destiny foretold,
I'll bear the scars of psychic wars as my life will unfold.

But where you tread is yours to choose, alone your will takes form,
By heavens light, or ravens night, the accolade is born.

The fear there is no end of, yet wonders there to see,
And looking long my warriors song will sing it's dreams to me.

We teach the path we walk on, on this I've labored hard,
As friends I've brought this road they sought, the doors I stand to guard.

A healer, I've been troubled, my failings no surprise,
And through the pain at night I've lain and could not close my eyes.

Yet each new test arises, at each new veil I stand,
In stepping through, I start anew, a babe in foreign land.

The days are unaccounted, I do not mark the time,
Forever yearned and knowledge learned, this road, this endless line.

(for Malachi, Valcor, Tzadkiel, BlondeWolf, & Don Juan)

Wolf's Bane

THEY CALL ME THE WOLF,
THEY CALL ME FORSAKEN,
THE LOVE ONCE SO DEEP,
FOREVER WILL SLEEP;
SHALL NEVER AWAKEN.

BUT I HAVE TONIGHT,
AND I HAVE TOMORROW,
THE SWORD THAT I WEILD,
THE SOULS THAT I STEAL;
THEY BRING ME NO SORROW.

MY LIFE IS A WASTE,
NO QUEST IN MY VALOR,
HELL'S BLADE PULLS ME ON,
I'M RAGGED AND WORN;
BONE WHITE IS MY PALLOR.

I FIGHT JUST TO FEEL,
I VANQUISH MY RIVALS,
WHILE ALL ELSE IS GONE,
CONTINUED THIS DAWN'S;
MY NIGHTNARE SURVIVAL.

(for BlondeWolf)

Shadow in the Fall

Were my house vaunted, layers of steel,
Rusty and haunted with amoral appeal.

Yours are the nectar, the heart of the rose,
And I bear the thorns for the love that I chose.

I see you together, the love that you wear,
I pray to the gods it may always be there.

I fall in your shadows, eclipsed in your light,
I seek your forgiveness of wrongs that I'll right.

It took me forever, to locate the signs,
Cupidity strikes at the tainted, and blinds.

The lower emotions, the animal strains,
Onus of brothers and sister it pains.

Though I veil into darkness, indigo throes,
The flower of love in your garden still grows.

For stronger than shadows, or rhythms desire,
There's no other love in the world I hold higher.

Once Removed

We think of Angels, pure of soul
placed by god within the fold
but beings great have memories long
and weep the tears of brothers gone

Their eyes retain a darker past
a lovers pain in fires cast
dissentious voice, the final price
the demons choice, an angels vice

as beauty fades, and shadows fall
cast in mute, unheeded calls
on brows were horns, and hands of claw
visions that the firstborn saw

Once though bright against the sky
memories alone they fly
where love is lost, and wings be shorn
the fields of heaven ever mourned

Aspirations joined in sleep
Flaming angels, falling weep

The Other You

Were light and dark, there are no picket fences; my words you mark,
no laws upon our senses.

Half is night, embrace it like a lover; to feel is right;
To know it through another.

We crave for love, it dances in our marrows; emotions dove
Awaits us in the shadows.

The path she flies, as hope unravels; the eagles cries,
Of danger in her travels.

And no one sees, the secret life she lives; the fantasies,
Or longing that she gives.

To each in turn, the hopeless and the gifted; for each will learn,
Their poets heart is lifted.

Not so the dove, who plummets fast to earth; from high above,
Attainment of her worth.

No cry escapes, no sign of loss or sorrow; as land she makes,
Tonight becomes tomorrow.

The day arrives, though loss of flight affronted; to walk she sighs,
Was really what I wanted.

Through darkness and light, through shadows of love; through the gates of night,
Soars a flightless dove.

The Lady & the Stag

The wise one spoke of men and earth, and duties owed from pain of birth,
of old the ones who held the knot, the priestess born and druids lot.
Upon the sacred ground they drew, the blood of life for vision true,
they saw it all through deaths embrace, an image of the lady's grace.

Though while the land was hale and well, her crescent stayed and rarely fell,
to beggar, king, and farmers brood, the lady smiled and life was good.
But when the earth went deathly pale, and crops and milk and seedlings failed
the king with wrist's that serpents wound, spilled free his blood upon her ground.

To those who toiled in land & sea, the common folk she heard their plea,
through healing arts her blessings came, through sun and moon and gentle rain.
The priestess picked from birth to serve, and carried sickle steel that curved,
she brought the goddess will to reign, till visage of the death crone came.

And of the stag he said to me, is like the seasons constantly,
in winter while his heart is dark, he claims the old, and slow to start.
But as the time returns to spring, and bird and river start to sing,
he is the blood that drives us all, he is the horn of natures call.

Now through the mist's of time there came, a druid Merlin was his name,
'tis true that name was used a lot, by druids back since time forgot.
And this one had the same desire, to kindle man and earth with fire,
he'd fine a forge as hot as sun, the dragons breath would make them one.

And there upon a time was black, no tree would bud, the ground did crack,
for man did war upon his kind, by force to start his royal line.
Among these was a noble born, inside him raged a warriors storm,
he had the might to be their lord, and needed only kingly sword.

He called the Merlin to his side, and charged that with him he would ride,
to do whatever he did bade, if he'd produce the holy blade.
"Then speak your peace with Cornwall now, and blade and hilt will show you how,
and ne're forget from whence it came, to Avalon you owe your name".

The deed was done the pact was sealed, the king to all the land revealed,
a feast was planned at Tintagel, to dance and song the castle fell.
Then one who came and danced alone, through golden hair of satin shown,
as lust arose in Uthers veins, the truce was broke, the pact was stained.

_______________________________________________________

Now Cornwall was a Jealous man, from castle walls he made his plan,
he'd slip away in dark of night, and men of steel with knuckles white.
They'd lay in wait till dark of moon, in ambush they would seal his doom,
but Uther backed by druids spell, came unannounced, and Cornwall fell.

'Tis true that Uther took as queen, Egrain the fair and in between,
the Saxon wars she bore a son, and Merlin saw his work begun.
But Uthers son was not alone, a child of four had now been shown,
to have the sight, and share the trust, the Goddess child of Cornwall's lust.

A time the Merlin came to call, and warned that danger might befall,
the kings own son, the druid said, that there were those who'd see him dead.
'Tis best to send the boy away, for safety's sake he couldn't stay,
a friend perhaps, with wife and young, who'd raise the boy as his own son.

And of your daughter, Merlin told, no convent walls, she'll not grow old,
before her time in black and white, the goddess calls, she has the sight.
So off they went, before daybreak, across the land, across the lake,
and soon she learned the harp and sonn, and raised the mist's of Avalon.

The young one looked upon the sage, the wise one showed the signs of age,
of years that came and went untold, and stories yet to be unfold.
but he'd live on for hundreds more, and mighty tales he'd yet to store,
and though some claim he never spoke, the boy was sure, he'd heard the Oak.

(Inspired by M.Z.Bradley's, "the Mist's Of Avalon", and the Arthurian ledgend).

Rapture in Twilight

The day is old, the west is red, through window clear I look ahead
Outside my room, and past the tree, it stirs awake, and calls to me
Ere grassy plain, or open field, ere coastal down or woodland weald
I'll hear your call, and have to go, the lilting tune the song you sew

I'll feel the pull and go outside, a feeling nothing else could hide
The time I spend, reflective thought, sweet end of day, this time you bought
I'm oft on swing, or sitting still, to chirping birds, my fancy's will
slip in and out, my mind adrift, in musing, heedless of your gift

Calm as water, close in sight, a breath away in deep twilight
She rises nigh, my hearts desire, with mist's and song, ascending higher
This cusp of life, our sweet refrain, we wax to full, and fall again
in natures dance, no feet are set, we take our chance, in dream we met

The day is fading, falling time, till dusk enfolds it's soundless rhyme
The passing short, but ever sweet, and treasured dreams each time we meet
Arriving night, Departing day, between the two in fields we play
Unbidden joy, impassioned hours, at first awaits, in fashion, flowers

Entranced the moon, inside this ring, the mushrooms swoon, the faery's sing
Since days of old, the moment peaks, the Sidhe at play, the magic speaks
As last light wanes, the shadows soar, the fae appear as thru a door
The stars alight, the night is young , As we embrace the day is done

Father and Son

Smoking my pipe I think of my dad,
march 28 makes me feel very sad
He smiles at me puffing, and calling me zeke
My fathers wit was a wonderful treat

Many years hunting in Leaky we shared
Learning from masters no training compared
Good sportsmanship, safety, and hi-jinks galore
The faces of friends over time you adore

Trekking through prairie, in hills, or in wood
Fishing the bay in my boat when we could
Lessons in laughter he made life so fun
Time that I treasured as father and son

But now that he’s gone there is so much to say
All the time in the world but there’s not anyway
To cover the things that I’m not sure I did
Did I say that I loved him enough while he lived.

He wasn’t so perfect, below and above
His anger persistent, but so was his love
His war with the bottle I knew he had made
The pressures of running the business, in trade

He never once hit me, I’d just get a look
That dark Polish frown and that’s all that it took
At rare times while rampant my antics not stand
He’d show me the shape and the size of his hand

But my pop for all faults there’s none that I chide
His love and his humor left nothing to hide.
The best things in life are the hardest to see
And he gave me the best things in life,

And their me.
